Bridal Veil Falls

We did this hike on August 2nd. We met up with our hiking friends and their two kids.

On the hike up, it sprinkled a little, which felt nice since we were working so hard. Then, we got lightning and thunder. Thunderstorms in the mountains are always a little more exciting, and scary. Devon would make this surprised face with an open mouth each time he heard thunder.

Devon walked for a little ways on the way back down. It was harder for him higher up the mountain where it was steep, but the bottom part is pretty level and he could easily do that. Until he got too tired, so I tried to bribe him with M&M's, but then he wanted to sit down and eat them, instead of walking. So we put him in the pack, and tried to give him a couple of M&M's, but he would just throw them. Can you say nap time?

This snail was pretty big, about twice as big as the ones we get around our house. Devon likes to climb the lattice underneath the wisteria and grab the snails off. He wanted to show all his brothers this snail that we saw on the hike, but a picture would have to do instead.

All the kids at the end. They are troopers. We ended up hiking just over 4 miles, in the rain.

Proof that we were both actually there. :)

Devon just sat on the edge of the bridge and ate his lunch like his big brothers.
He is growing up way too fast!
