We had an open Saturday and were finally able to go to Fort Casey. We have heard about this place on Whidbey Island from several different friends, so we knew that eventually, we had to go.
They boys loved it, like I hoped they would. Giant guns, the beach, and a big grassy field perfect for flying kites. Apparently, it is always windy enough for kites here, so there were a lot of other people with kites, too.

After exploring the fort, we went for a walk along the beach.
Devon wanted to jump right in, as usual. But, he wasn't feeling very good so he had to stay in the sling.
Kaden was chasing feathers in the wind. He makes me laugh.

I don't know what these cement things were called, but they jutted out the edge of the cliff. Inside, they had rails for the guns to slide on. It's pretty amazing.
We ended the day by flying kites. We have had a kite for a couple of years now, and never used it. Not once, so the boys were super excited to get it out! They did pretty well taking turns, but they had their moments. I can't wait to go back and explore some more. There are some bunkers, a lighthouse, and more battlement places that we didn't even get to. It will give us an excuse to go exploring again!
