Corona del Mar

Monday afternoon we headed to the beach, after Devon took a nap. The weather was perfect, but there was a rip-tide, so the waves were a little rougher than usual. We still had a great time. I was so excited for the boys to play on a soft, sandy beach with warm water. The beaches are so different up here.

These three did not want anything to do with the water. They played in the sand most of the time. That might have been different if they hadn't run straight into the ocean when we first got there. Kaden, Jaren, and Clayton were so excited that they just took off toward the water. Then a wave took them out. Clayton got the brunt of it, getting knocked off his feet and losing his sandals. Shaunie was the closest adult and grabbed him out of the water, but his shoes were getting washed towards the rocks, so she had to wade in after them. Clayton was pretty terrified for a while.

The kids and their seaweed castle.

 Getting buried in the sand.

Devon loved it- he just laid there for a while. It was funny.

Tyler and I went out and played in the waves. It was fun - and then we both got pounded and tumble dried in one monster wave. Makes you very aware of your mortality. :)

When we were just about to leave, Clayton came up to Tyler and said that he wanted to go out into the water. So Tyler carried him out and they played out there for a while. So proud of him!

Taking in the view on our way home. It's gorgeous!
